The Six Monthers exist due to a lot of behind-the-scenes work. While I busy myself writing this blog and sharing our travel adventures, Florence is busy on numerous social media sites promoting our brand and seeking opportunities that complement our travel plans. These efforts recently paid off when the staff at Touristar TV in Croatia invited us to join their team to promote their Discover Croatia Tour in September, which will be filmed for television.

We will be representing the United States on an international team of travelers and journalists from Brazil, Finland, Spain and host Ashley Colburn along with our Croatian hosts TouristarTV and the Croatian agency, Dhar Media.  I will be sharing more about our fellow travelers in the weeks ahead. Currently, I am announcing our travel plans and sharing a few photos from Croatia provided by our hosts.

I will share stories about the people, the culture, the sights, the food and the history of Croatia. I am no expert about Croatia, so I will be learning and writing about it as I go.  I have met only a few Croatians in my life, and they all have one thing in common. They are proud of their country’s beauty and heritage.

Our route will take us from the interior capital of Zagreb through scenic national parks past mountains and lakes to the coast. It is the desire of our team to create an irresistible image of Croatia as a travel destination.  Until such time as we assemble as a group on September 3rd, our hosts at Touristar TV passed along some images from Croatia to share with you.  I will post updates as I am able until I begin sharing stories and photos from Croatia.

I am excited about seeing a part of the world I have only read about or heard about from others. One thing is clear. Now that Croatia has become a member of the European Union, they want to raise their profile and let the world know who they are and what their beautiful country has to offer. I can hardly wait to share my discoveries.

  1. Congrats Mike! This is great news and I look forward to following your Croatian adventures. It seems that the idea behind ~WithLoveFromBG~ and your partnership with Touristart TV are very similar in nature: to familiarize travelers with new destinations and help them discover the many great opportunities that they offer. I look forward to learning from you and exchanging tips.
    Best,
    Gerry

There is such a diverse group coming from three continents to share in this experience. I expect to learn as much as my readers in this endeavor. I am just excited to be a part of this great adventure. Thank you for your comments, Gerry, and I hope to learn about Bulgaria as well in our future travels. – Mike

Perth is still our home for now. We are coming back to our flat in Perth after this outing, although we may layover in London for a few days just because it is on the way. 🙂

I am in awe of your networking and the ability to adapt. I am also glad that you will be going to a lovely country, Croatia, sharing it with us, too! I have so many thoughts rumbling around in my brain. Thank you, Mike, for liking my back to school post and all the different messages you have left. I am thankful for our connection and dream of a day, when I will travel again!

Thank you for the kind words, Robin. I am also grateful for our connection. I appreciate having you as a follower and a blog friend. Perhaps when you are prepared to travel again I will have provided some ideas for where you might wish to visit. – Mike

Now that you know what my surprise announcement is, I can say we are excited to be invited on this trip. My official role will be ‘journalist’ so I will be taking lots of notes and sharing updates frequently starting the first week in September. It should be exciting! Thank you for the kind words, Terri. – Mike

How very exciting! I have always wanted to go there! My son studied abroad several years ago and traveled to Croatia. He absolutely loved the place, people and food! His photos were amazing. I can’t wait to read about your travels.

  7. What a wonderful opportunity Mike. How exciting! Sounds like Florence is really working it behind the scenes to get you guys this gig. I don’t know much about Croatia either, but I guess I’ll learn from you. Celeste 🙂

    • Mike Lince says:

Yes, Florence is definitely the driving force behind this opportunity to see Croatia as the guests of Touristar TV. When one of the journalists who was originally invited cancelled (someone from France, I believe), they extended the offer to me based on what they had read of my blog. So now I will be a ‘blogging journalist.’ 🙂 – Mike

      • Yea, I’m so excited for you! Your writing must have really made an impression. I’m not surprised – you’ve got a wonderful style. Celeste 🙂

I’m Croatian and I’m happy you’ve made Croatia your next destination. If you have any questions or need help figuring out something, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
PS – Plitvice Lakes are not alpine, but fed from subterranean karst rivers. Just a heads up. 🙂

Excellent information and a generous and thoughtful offer of assistance. This trip is just a visit. However, Croatia is on our list for 2014 as a place to for an extended stay. We still need to determine the best place to rent an apartment and the cost. Thank you, Ana!

      • amamic1 says:

I understand that you’re in good hands this time. It’s great to hear that we’re also on the list for an extended stay. This trip will then provide a great opportunity to scout out places to return to. Again, if you need help in 2014, let me know. Enjoy your visit!

  10. How exciting Mike! I have wanted to see Croatia for years… definitely on my bucket list! Can’t wait to hear more.

  11. Breathtaking pictures. I can’t wait to see more!

  12. Wow! I look forward to learning more about Croatia. I know several people who have been there, and they all say it is one of their favorite places.

    • Mike Lince says:

It should be a lot of fun with a great group. There is a bit more about this Croatia outing on the Touristar Facebook page if you are interested. Thank you, Marilyn. – Mike

  13. […] you might imagine with our Croatia trip coming up, their country has been on our minds a lot. Croatia was already on our list for 2015. […]

  14. Dionne says:

Looking foreward to your visit, I see from the pictures sent its only the Dalmatian coast, this area is always promoted and where everyone seems to visit. There is so much to see in the Kvarner Bay area and Istra region, even in the Slavonski Brod areas too. We do get a lot of tourists up this side as they need to pass through here from the border to get to the rest of Croatia but most tourists are from Italy,Slovenia,Germany and other eastern European countries. Most of the British and Americans head to Dalmatia. I hope this new promotion will promote other parts of Croatia as well.

    • Mike Lince says:

Thank you for your comments and friendship, Dionne. I will provide you with our itinerary so you can see where we will be visiting. If there are important places missing we will be sure to investigate them more thoroughly when we return next year. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. – Mike
